Teachers' Day 2009

The fun, the food, the gifts, the touching video.
also...the nasty mess and the dreaded cleaning up.
I wonder how bad the room will smell on Wednesday?

Trapped in a lift

Excerpts from pupils' writings - please pick out good phrases and words to use in your own piece.

(Monisha:)
Ting! The door opened to reveal its sophisticated control buttons and plush wall of leather. While on the way up, something felt very wrong. The cool air from the air-condition vents which had greeted them was progressively vanishing. The boys perspired profusely.
Next, the lights flickered for several seconds and went off. Fred's eyes welled up in tears while Nick tried hard to console him. The boys cowered in the corner and waited for help to arrive.

(Ivan:)
Minutes later, the trapdoor above us was pried open. I saw a Civil Defence officer lowering a rope ladder for us to climb out. As soon as we were out of the lift car, the rest of the officers forced the lift door open.

(Ashley Tham:)
A month later, the neighbourhood council came together and made a decision - the lift was to be replaced and a louder emergency alarm installed. Mini battery-powered fans and torchlights would also be placed in a box at a corner of the lift. Nobody should suffer as I had.
